A multidisciplinary unit studying the links between cognition and mobility

COMETE is composed of researchers from various complementary scientific fields: neuroscience, sports science, medicine, pharmacy and psychology.

The complementary nature of their expertise enables both fundamental and applied research to be conducted in humans and animals.

The team’s work focuses on:

  • Understanding the mechanisms that control mobility (posture, balance, locomotion) and their interactions with cognitive functions and biological rhythms.
  • Applying this knowledge to the field of health (ageing, neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases):
    • Primary prevention (falls, accidents, etc.)
    • Secondary prevention (early diagnosis of motor and cognitive diseases)
    • Innovative non-pharmacological remediation strategies (adapted physical activity)
    • Pharmacological therapeutic strategies (pro-cognitive agents)

These activities also find application in the fields of physiology and space medicine and in Science for and with Society (participation of the public and patients in these studies).
